Lorraine Cohodes, 80, of Iron Mountain, died peacefully on Tuesday, Sept. 14, 2010, at Dickinson County Memorial Hospital.

She was a longtime resident of Iron Mountain and Kingsford. Lorraine was born on March 5, 1930, in Chicago, the daughter of the late Louis and Peggy (Rubin) Marlib.

She married Beral L. Cohodes on Dec. 28, 1952 in Chicago. The couple moved to Iron Mountain and made a life together, raised a family and ran a business, M. Cohodes Sons, Inc. along with Phil and Dora Cohodes. Beral preceded her in death on July 28, 1997.

Lorraine was at her best when she gave orders to anyone helping in her kitchen or in the kitchen at her temple. Her greatest joys came from entertaining people, her life with Beral, her grandchildren and great-grandchildren.

In the summer it was Tuesdays at Pine Grove and the winter months was Bridge Club with the ladies. In addition to her membership at Pine Grove Country Club, Lorraine was active in the Chippewa Club where she served as past president, 50 years in the Iron Mountain-Kingsford Women's Club, Iron Mountain Lady Lions and a member of the Anshe Knesseth Israel Congregation.

She is survived by her sons, Mickey (Mary) Cohodes of New Berlin, Wis. and Larry (Terri ) Cohodes of Grafton, Wis..; five grandchildren, Jessica Cohodes and her husband Ryan Sargent, Pam (Eric) Lundequam, David (Jennifer) Cohodes, Jeff Krueger and Jon (Tracie) Krueger; six great-grandchildren; and many nieces and nephews.

Lorraine was preceded in death by her brother, Mickey Marlib.

Visitation will be Friday from 9 a.m. to 11 a.m. at the Erickson-Rochon & Nash Funeral Home of Iron Mountain.

Funeral services will follow Friday at 11 a.m. at the funeral home. Dr. Michael Zevitz will officiate.

Burial will be in Cemetery Park.

In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made in her memory to the Scholarship Fund at Iron Mountain High School.

The family wishes to thank Dr. Donald and Sally Jacobs for their friendship and care, the staff at ManorCare Nursing Home and Dickinson County Memorial Hospital for their compassionate care. Thank you also to a very special friend Rowan Schaal for her help and care for so many years.
